INFOM

We have recently become the German section of INFOM. As such, we are in constant exchange with the Japanese parent organization, the International Society of Nature and Forest Medicine, and promote the spread of science-based forest medicine and forest therapy in German-speaking countries.

About INFOM

The International Society of Nature and Forest Medicine (INFOM), based in Japan, is a scientific organization focusing on a high-quality advancement of research on the health effects of forests and nature.

Thanks to technical progress in the natural and biological sciences, which is producing increasingly improved measurement methods, this research is becoming more and more sophisticated. INFOM's studies on the medical effects of forests and nature on human health clearly show that being in the forest leads to a significant reduction in stress as well as an increase in the activity and number of natural killer cells (NK cells), which results in an increase in well-being and improved immune function.

INFOM is committed to the promotion of naturopathy in integrated medical care. In addition, it promotes the global exchange of knowledge on the effects of nature and forest medicine, among other things, by sharing its research findings and through international cooperation.

[International Society of Nature and Forest Medicine]

People who stay and become healthy with the help of nature and a modern healthcare system that supports them with this. That is our vision.

In the view of the IWSI (IM-WALD-SEIN® INSTITUT FÜR WALDMEDIZIN UND WALDTHERAPIE), the cooperation with INFOM is another important step towards achieving this vision. In contrast to other countries, forest therapy and Shinrin Yoku (forest bathing) are not yet regarded as important health policy instruments in a modern health and preventative strategy in German-speaking countries.

Given the many proven benefits that this form of natural medicine treatment can provide for mental, emotional, and physical well-being (e.g., mental health and physical well-being) in preventative care and rehabilitation and its cost-effectiveness, we believe this is wrong. With our awareness-raising work and our commitment, we aim to help to correct this misconception.

A first overview of the plausible study results of this exciting field of research can be found on the German homepage of the naturopathic physician and immunologist
Prof. Dr. Qing Li, who is undoubtedly one of the most important international voices in the field of forest medicine. He is Vice President and Secretary General of INFOM, as well as a member of our Academy.
